Carmen Diaz

Foundational Learning Specialist

Carmen is an expert in Elementary learning, working with ESL/ENL/ELL learners and the implementation of technology in the classroom. Carmen has extensive expertise in differentiation, curriculum writing and implementation. Carmen has worked to create learning opportunities for students through enrichment courses, intervention support, differentiated resources and helping students to grow in both academic and social areas.

Carmen joined the Network in September of 2015. Prior to joining our team, Carmen taught in elementary classrooms in the state of Connecticut. She worked in collaboration to write curriculum units from grades K-6 for Cheshire Public Schools. As a Google Certified Trainer, Carmen has incorporated technological resources into all facets of learning. Carmen has had many opportunities to play an active role in the ENL educator community and was elected Interim VP of Advocacy of NYS TESOL. Carmen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Connecticut. She also earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Sacred Heart University and is certified K-6 and 7-12 with a Secondary English focus. Carmen is married to her inspiring husband, Rickie. They have a mischievous dog named Chewbacca.
